Hello, my name is Hirad Saberi. I am 18 years old, and I attend Capilano University. I was born in Iran and lived in Tehran until a few months after my 9th birthday. I moved to Vancouver with my family, and we have lived here for more than 9 years. when I first came here, I couldn't speak English, but after a few years I became much more fluent and became better at reading, writing, and speaking. I used to play soccer until grade 7, but I lost interest in the sport due to getting hurt a lot and it became a sport that I'd watch with my family and friends. However, in grade 8 I started trying different sports to see which one I liked the most and basketball quickly became the sport I wanted to play. I tried out for the basketball team in grade 9 but was cut unfortunately due to lack of skill and experience. That same year around March 2020, COVID 19 happened, and everything was locked down including the outdoor basketball courts. Thankfully around April they opened, and I immediately began practicing. Over the next few months my love for the game grew and I decided on my 15th birthday that I wanted to be the best basketball player I could be and play at the highest level possible and I have been training to this day to achieve my goal. Right now, my goal is to study for the bachelor of kinesiology degree and play in my university's basketball team. At the moment, however, I am doing upgrading courses at Capilano University to boost my GPA so I can get into the bachelor of kinesiology program. Which brings me to the reason behind making this website/ePortfolio. I made this because of my English 100 class as my assignment was to create and ePortfolio and write about who I am and the purpose and function behind my eportfolio which is; to highlight evidence, and reflections that can be consistently updated and used as an online record of my achievements and learning experiences at Capilano University.
